"Hans" is on, Kiln openning Sunday

I did what I said I would... ran a bisque kiln. and now I loaded a high fire kiln(glaze fire).. The kiln will heat up to 2300 degrees. To get to this temperature it will take close to 8 hours. After that I have to let it cool for a day and half. If you open it to soon, the glaze will crack. Sometimes I lift the lid to get a peak. I can't wait to see what the "kiln gods" have done to my work.. there is always a surprise. you can get perfect pieces or ones with cracks, warping, uneven glazing and more.. The satisfaction of getting what you want is all up to the last fire... KILN OPENNING this Sunday!!!

The carport.... yes This is where I create, make and fire all the pottery. It consists of a worktable, slabroller, kiln, drying and storage cabinet. The seasons dictate when I can work. Timing is everything. Spring and Fall is the best time to work outside. Summer months it is to hot and then the clay melts. In the winter the clay can freeze, plus when you work with cold clay your fingers become icickles.
