Tomtar, Troll, St. Lucia and more

What fun I have with clay... you should try it!

I have not really shown you all my little side activities. What I do with all that extra clay!
So this is how it works. When I roll out a large slab to make one of my larger bowls or plates. I have a great deal of extra pieces left over. I can wedge the pieces to make another larger piece or I start making all these little figurines. They are a lot of fun to make. I get my ideas from my childhood books "Children of the forest" by Astrid Lindgren and images from my childhood.

I find that sculpting comes easy to me. It just works. I used to make these wine stoppers of Roman Heads.. They are really beautiful. If some of my friends or family have them they are really lucky.

Studio

The carport.... yes This is where I create, make and fire all the pottery. It consists of a worktable, slabroller, kiln, drying and storage cabinet. The seasons dictate when I can work. Timing is everything. Spring and Fall is the best time to work outside. Summer months it is to hot and then the clay melts. In the winter the clay can freeze, plus when you work with cold clay your fingers become icickles.
